Rounding out Islands of Adventure is an area designed for teens, young adults, and Marvel comic book fans of all ages. This entire area focuses on characters and themes from Marvel comics, so don't be surprised if you run into the X-Men, Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, or other characters as you explore this area.

The main rides within Marvel Super Hero Island are considered thrill rides and aren't suitable for young kids or many senior citizens. If there's a comic book collector in your family, you'll definitely want to check out some of the shops within this area and take a look at the collectibles offered.

The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man

The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man combines moving vehicles with filmed 3-D action and special effects, resulting in a visually stunning attraction/ride that most visitors want to experience multiple times. Upon boarding, guests get a tour of the Daily Bugle (the newspaper where Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man, works). It's a typical day for Peter until he discovers that evil villains, including Doctor Octopus, are using an antigravity gun to steal the Statue of Liberty. This is where the action heats up. You, along with Spider-Man, experience an action-packed adventure worthy of any superhero.

Doctor Doom's Fearfall

What goes up, must come down. That's the premise behind this free-fall ride that takes guests up a 200-foot tower and then drops them.

Incredible Hulk Coaster

Perhaps the most popular ride in all of the Islands of Adventure, this roller coaster allows riders to experience the same thrust as the pilot of a real-life U.S. Air Force F-16 fighter attack jet experiences. The ride starts with a blast (from zero to 40 miles per hour in less than two seconds) and continues with a series of loops, twists, turns, and flips. The ride lasts only two minutes and fifteen seconds, but is one that won't soon be forgotten.

As with any thrill ride, this one isn't suitable for young children. Be prepared for a long wait because this ride is so popular, but if you're a roller coaster fanatic, it's well worth the wait.

Storm Force Accelatron

If you thought the Mad Tea Party (Tea Cups) ride at the Magic Kingdom took you for a spin, just wait until you experience this faster-spinning thrill ride. Here, Storm faces Magneto in a ride that features sound and visual effects, plus a whole lot of spinning. It's certainly not for young kids or those who have just eaten.

You don't have to be a superhero or a notorious villain trying to take over the world to work up an appetite. The following are your dining options within Marvel Super Hero Island:

• Café 4 — This Italian buffeteria's menu includes minestrone soup, Caesar salads, pizza by the slice, spaghetti, fettuccini, Italian hoagies, sausage sub sandwiches, kids' meals, desserts, soda, beer, wine, espresso, and cappuccino.

• Captain America Diner — Charbroiled burgers and cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, kids' meals, onion rings, apple pie à la mode, shakes, and soda are among the offerings served here.

• Chill — Soft-serve ice cream, sundaes, and other treats are available here.

• Cotton Candy — Freshly made cotton candy, snacks, soda, and other items that will satisfy your sweet tooth are available here.

• Freeze — Snow cones, snacks, and soda are available from this kiosk located in the heart of Marvel Super Hero Island.

• Fruit — Whole fruit, fresh fruit cups, snacks, and juice are served here and give health-conscious visitors an alternative to junk food when they're ready for a snack.

• Arcade News — Here you'll find Dr. Doom merchandise, much of which isn't available anywhere else.

• Comics Shop — As the name suggests, comic books and trading cards, plus other comic book — related items for the casual and serious collector, are available here.

• Hulk Photo — For those who experience the Incredible Hulk Coaster and don't think they'll remember the experience without a photo, personalized photos can be purchased near the ride's exit. (Photos of every rider are taken.)

• The Marvel Alterniverse Store — Higher-priced collectibles, clothing, jewelry, and other items (all based on Marvel comics) are available at this shop.
