Mickey's Toontown Fair

People traveling with young children (ages three to twelve) will definitely want to check out the Magic Kingdom's newest land, which was designed specifically for kids. This area features many of Disney's classic characters, including Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. Mickey's Toontown Fair is a colorful, cartoonlike town that's a blast for kids, but it offers little of interest to adults. Near the entrance of this area, you'll find Pete's Garage. Here you'll find restrooms and public phones. If you want to meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie, Donald, and Goofy, the best place to do this is within Mickey's Toontown Fair.

HOT SPOT

Throughout Mickey's Toontown Fair there are a lot of photo opportunities around every corner, so make sure you have enough film and batteries in case you run out.

Kids get to explore this boat-shaped playground with a nautical theme. This boat is hardly seaworthy, however. In fact, it has so many leaks, kids who explore it are virtually guaranteed to get a bit wet. The shooting fountains offer an excellent way for kids to cool off on a hot day. On cooler days, you might want to instruct your kids to stay dry by avoiding the shooting water. (A cold and wet kid is an unhappy kid.) Otherwise, have a dry change of clothes on hand.

After exploring Mickey's yellow, green, and red country home and yard, visitors get to meet Mickey in person. This is an excellent photo opportunity and a chance for your children to meet the Mouse one-on-one. While Disney characters make appearances every day throughout Walt Disney World, if you want to be guaranteed that your child will meet Mickey (and shake hands, etc.), this is the place to go. The wait, however, could be up to one hour.

Young guests get to explore Minnie's pink-and-purple country home and then explore the backyard, where Minnie herself will be waiting to greet guests in her gazebo. This is another excellent photo opportunity and a chance to interact with one of Disney's most popular characters. Be prepared to experience a wait to meet Minnie in person.

FAST FACT

Mickey's Toontown typically opens a little later than the rest of the park and sometimes closes earlier. Be sure to check your Guide Map: The Magic Kingdom brochure or the Information Board (at the end of Main Street U.S.A.) for details and plan accordingly.

Young people will love Toontown's only thrill ride — a roller coaster with a “cartoon” twist that's fast enough to give young people a bit of excitement, without being too scary. Near the exit of the Barnstormer is a fun snack shop where guests can make their own strawberry shortcake. Kids must be at least 35 inches tall to experience this mild thrill ride.

Toon Park

This playground looks like a 3-D cartoon, and virtually everything within it is made out of foam, including the grass and animal statues. Toon Park is a fun and safe place for your kids to have fun while the adults sit on the sidelines.
