WDW Tours and Special Experiences
Disney offers many fun, interesting, and educating tours of imaginative and the behind-the-scene experiences for guests. Most require entrance into the parks plus the price of the tour. For more information or reservations call (407) WDW-TOUR.
Magic Kingdom Tours
Tours at Magic Kingdom provide guests with a lot of interesting information, history, and fun. Some are suitable to take as a family and others you may want to go solo. Tour sizes are relatively small, so always try to make arrangements to reserve a tour as soon as you can.
Mickey's Magical Milestones
This two-hour tour through Magic Kingdom teaches you tidbits of Magic Kingdom history. It includes a train ride to Mickey's Toontown before it opens to the general public, and you get a surprise visit from Mickey himself, so have your cameras with you. The tour finishes with a backdoor entrance to Magic Kingdom's 3-D movie, PhilharMagic. The price is $25 per person and you must be at least ten years old. The tour meets at the garden in front of City Hall on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 8:45 A.M. Theme park admission is required.
Family Magic Tour
Take a two-hour interactive imagination tour through Magic Kingdom treasure-hunt-style. Kids love this one! It costs $27 per person and starts at 10:00 A.M. daily. Theme park admission is required.
Keys to the Kingdom
A five-hour tour of Disney history. This is the tour that takes you below Magic Kingdom in the tunnels. The price is $58 per person and includes lunch. The tour starts at City Hall inside Magic Kingdom at 8:30, 9:00, and 9:30 A.M. daily. Theme park admission is required.
The Magic Behind Our Steam Trains
This three-hour tour of WDW trains and history is about Walt Disney's fascination with trains. This tour takes you backstage, and you are given a pin at the end.
The price is $40 per person and you must be at least ten years old. The tour meets at the turnstiles Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday at 7:30 A.M. Theme park admission is required.
Virtual Magic Kingdom Tour
This is a Magic Kingdom tour that you can do at home on the computer. It's free at www.vmk.com. Players create their own environments, control characters, and interact with other players from around the globe. When you get to the Magic Kingdom in person, you can log on to a Quest kiosk to win fun stuff.
Animal Kingdom Tours
Tours at Animal Kingdom provide information about certain parts of the park onstage and backstage. They are not meant for smaller children and actually require guests to be at least fourteen to sixteen years old.
Backstage Safari Tour
This is a three-hour backstage tour of Animal Kingdom. It costs $65 per person and you must be at least sixteen years old. No photography is allowed backstage, and theme park admission is required.
Wild by Design
This three-hour walking tour teaches you about the artwork and creative design of Animal Kingdom. Price is $58 per person and you must be at least fourteen years old. It includes a continental breakfast, and theme park admission is required.
Epcot offers more tours than any park at WDW. You can swim with dolphins, learn about hydroponics gardening, ride a Segway, visit VIP lounges, and more!
This is a one-hour class on how to use/drive a Segway Human transporter. Cost is $30 per person and you must be at least sixteen years old and weigh between 100 to 250 lbs. Persons with special needs or expectant mothers are not allowed to participate. Meets at Epcot Guest Relations many times every day except Tuesday. Theme park admission is required.
Behind the Seeds
Take a one-hour walking tour of the Land Pavilion's labs and greenhouses. Video and still cameras are allowed. It costs $12 per adult and $10 per child (ages three to nine). Theme park admission is required.
Epcot Seas Aqua Tour
This is a backstage tour of the Living Seas that lasts for two and a half hours, with thirty minutes in the Living Seas aquarium, so bring a swimsuit. Cost is $100 per person. You must be at least eight years old and ages eight to eighteen must be accompanied by an adult. Scuba certification is not required. Price includes, gear, T-shirt, and a group photo. The tour starts daily at 12:30 P.M. Theme park admission is not required.
This program offers certified scuba divers the chance to explore the Living Seas for two and a half hours. You must have proof of current certification. Price is $140 per person. The tour meets daily at 4:30 and 5:40 P.M. and includes refreshments and a T-shirt. A video of your dive is available for $35. Theme park admission is not required.
Dolphins in Depth
This three-hour experience is for guests who want to learn more about the dolphins at the Living Seas. Wetsuits are provided, but you must bring a swimsuit. Showers and amenities are included as well. No cameras or video cameras are allowed, and dolphin interaction is not guaranteed. The price is $150 per person. You must be at least thirteen years old and an adult must accompany children ages thirteen to eighteen. Price includes a photo with a dolphin, refreshments, and a T-shirt. Meets Monday through Friday at 9:45 A.M. at Guest Relations. Theme park admission is not required.
Gardens of the World
Enjoy a three-hour walking horticulture tour of Epcot. The cost is $59 per person and you must be at least sixteen years old. The tour meets at Guest Relations on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00 A.M. During the Flower and Garden Festival it is also offered on Saturdays. Theme park admission is required.
Take a three-hour walking tour of the World Showcase, with lots of peeks behind the scenes. The price is $59 per person. The tour meets at Guest Relations on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:00 A.M. Theme park admission is required.
Undiscovered Future World
This walking history tour of Epcot takes four and a half hours and offers lots of backstage peeks and also includes an invitation to sit in the VIP lounge to view IllumiNations later that night. Price is $49 per person and the tour meets at Guest Relations Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9:00 A.M. Theme park admission is required.
Combination or Seasonal Tours
Tours that are offered at certain times of the year or include a combination of parks, resorts, and experiences fall under this category.
This seven-hour tour visits the backstage areas of Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Disney-MGM Studios. The price is $199 per person and includes lunch. The tour meets Monday through Friday at 8:45 A.M. at Guest Services at Epcot. Advance reservations for up to two months is recommended. Theme park admission is not required.
Disney's Yuletide Fantasy
This is a three-hour seasonal tour of some parks, resorts, and the holiday warehouse backstage. The price is $69 per person. An adult must accompany guests under the age of sixteen. Theme park admission is not required.
Disney's VIP Tour
A VIP tour can be customized for up to ten guests. The price is $85 to $100 per hour. Call Disney Special Activities at (407) 560-4033.
Other Tours and Adventures
Special adventures and/or tours are offered mostly for the children. Some do not allow adult participation, which allows adults the time to have a massage, relax at the pool, or whatever they desire.
This is a two-hour boat tour and treasure hunt. The price is $28 per child and includes lunch and a goody bag. This tour is for children ages four to ten only. Adults are not allowed. It meets at the Grand Floridian Resort marina at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Wonderland Tea Party
This is a delightful tea party with Alice and the Mad Hatter that includes games, refreshments, souvenirs, and a photo. The price is 28 per child, for ages four to ten only. No adults allowed. It meets daily at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort from 1:15 to 2:30 P.M.
Grand Adventures in Cooking
A Disney chef helps kids create culinary delights. At the end the kids parade through the lobby and hand out some of their creations to guests. The price is $28 per child, ages three to ten only. No adults allowed. It meets at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian Resort Tuesday and Friday from 10:00 to 11:45 A.M.
My Disney Girl's Perfectly Princess Tea Party
Sleeping Beauty (Princess Aurora), tells stories, sings songs, and conducts a princess parade. Each girl is given a My Disney Doll, silver bracelet, princess scrapbook page, tiara, and a Best Friend certificate. Gourmet cuisine is available for the princesses and their adult accompaniment.
The price is $200 for one adult and child. The child must be between ages three to eleven. Each additional adult is $65, and $135 for an additional child. It meets in the Garden View Lounge at the Grand Floridian Resort on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.
Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Lounge
Take tea in the small Garden View Lounge at the Grand Floridian. This is geared for adults or very well-mannered and behaved teenagers. The cost is about $52 for two adults, which does not include the tip. You choose gourmet teas, finger sandwiches, and miniature pastries. Surprisingly, it turns out to be very filling. It is offered daily from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M. and reservations are highly recommended, as there are only twenty small tables.
Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique
The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique located at the Marketplace at Downtown Disney inside the World of Disney store turns little girls ages three and up into a Disney Princess, Pop Princess, or Disney Diva. With the help of a “Fairy Godmother-in-Training,” they get a “makeover” that includes hairstyling, makeup, and manicures.
A Coach Package includes hairstyling and shimmering makeup for $35. The Crown Package includes hairstyling, shimmering makeup, and nails for $45. And the Castle Package includes the Crown Package plus a complete costume of your choice with accessories for $175.
They also offer a pirate room with a boys' experience called “Cool Dude,” with hairstyling, colored gels/sparkles, build a pirate hat or skull, tattoos, and superhero gear. Call (407) 939-7895 to make a reservation.
