Water Park Information
If you're staying at one of the Disney resorts, you're entitled to take advantage of the swimming pools and beaches at any of Disney's resorts. Many of the resorts offer multiple pools, whirlpools, water slides, and kid-oriented areas. The WDW Resort also offers two exciting water parks — Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon — that have become favorite attractions of families traveling with kids.
Families can easily spend at least one full day at Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. These parks are always busiest in the mornings, so if you have a multiday Park Hopper Plus Pass, plan on arriving around lunchtime to avoid the heavy morning crowds. Spend the morning at the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, the Disney-MGM Studios, or Disney's Animal Kingdom, then cool off at one of the refreshingly wet and wildly exciting water parks.
For female guests, wearing a one-piece bathing suit is highly recommended, due to the “rough water” and “waves” you'll be encountering. These water parks offer family-oriented entertainment with kids and teens in mind.
FAST FACT
Being able to swim is a prerequisite for some, but not all, of these water-based attractions. Keep in mind, Disney's water parks are either open seasonally or have limited hours during off-peak times of the year.
Hours of Operation
All of these water parks are somewhat seasonal and are open during nice weather only. Typically, the hours of operation are between 10:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. (with extended hours during the peak summer months). Call (407) 824-4321 to ensure that the water parks will be open during your visit and to confirm exact operating hours. All of the water parks can be reached using the WDW Transportation bus system.
TRAVEL TIP
Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf is located near Blizzard Beach. Families can experience this eighteen-hole miniature golf course with a winter theme for $9.76 per adult and $7.78 per child. If you play a second round of golf on the same day, the second round is half off. You can also purchase money-saving combo tickets for Blizzard Beach and Disney's Winter Summerland Miniature Golf.
Guest Services
At all of the water parks, showers and restrooms are available. Lockers may be rented on a daily basis. Life jackets are available for free, but a $25 refundable deposit is required. Towels can be rented at the various water parks for $1 each, or you can bring your own from your hotel room (but you must also return them to your hotel room at the end of the day).
Admission to the Water Parks
Admission to the three Disney water parks is included in the price of the multiday Park Hopper Plus tickets. You can, however, also purchase one-day admission tickets or annual passes for each of the water parks separately. See Chapter 3 for details. As you'll soon discover, each of the water parks has a totally different theme and a different set of activities and attractions.
