Kid-Favorite Resorts in Orlando

Some resorts are doing everything they can to attract families. Many have learned that providing a more kid-friendly atmosphere with themed suites, activities, perks, and just general attention to the little ones is the key. Following are the best kid-approved resorts around the Orlando area.

The Nick Hotel

Without a doubt, the number one favorite place that kids want to stay is at the Nick Hotel ((407) 387-5437) (www.nickhotel.com) It's a Holiday Inn hotel located only a mile from WDW property and is advertised on the Nickelodeon TV channel, so that's how kids know about it. It's a dream hotel for them. Rates start around $160 and the themed kid room/suites are brightly painted with Nickelodeon characters. There are so many activities for kids here that you'll have a hard time talking your kids into leaving — especially the pool! Visit the Web site to see all this fun hotel has to offer.

Ramada Maingate West

This hotel wins for the best kid-friendly budget hotel. The Ramada Maingate West ((407) 396-6000) is located on HWY 192 in Kissimmee, Florida. Room rates start around $67, and there is a kids check-in, which includes a goodie bag when they sign in. Some rooms have themed kid suites with bunk beds and a sign that says “no adults allowed.” The biggest thrill for kids is the waterfall in the indoor pool, which happens to be the only indoor resort/hotel pool in all of Orlando. Their first glimpse of the pool is while they ascend to their room in the glass elevator. Adults like the option of having an indoor and outdoor pool. This hotel also has an all-you-care-to-eat buffet with a kids dining area that has a TV playing cartoons, a food court, game room, fitness center, free wireless Internet, and nightly karaoke until 11:00 P.M. Many other dining options are within walking distance. The lounge overlooking the indoor pool closes at midnight. This hotel is one mile from the WDW entrance and provides WDW and Universal Studios shuttles.

Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort

Rates at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort ((407) 238-7276) start around $95, but the rooms include kitchenettes. Their kid suites have bunk beds with themes like igloos, outer space, and a tree house. Kids eat free and have free movie screenings. Camp Holiday is a supervised kids' program for ages four to twelve.

The Enclave

The Enclave ((800) 457-0077) is located right across from Universal Studios on International Drive. As a matter of fact, from many rooms you can watch Universal's nightly fireworks. Rates start around $120 per night. The kid suites have themes like Scooby Doo and Woody Woodpecker, and include bunk beds and their own bathroom. Wet 'n Wild water park is within walking distance, and SeaWorld is only three miles away, not to mention all the activities on International Drive. They also have two outdoor pools, two kiddy pools, one indoor heated pool, a Jacuzzi, fitness center, game room, food court, and more!
