When to Go to Hawaii
The Hawaiian year has two seasons: summer and winter. Summer extends from around May and into October; winter lasts from November through April. Most people will find Hawaii delightful any time of the year. At sea level, the only difference between the two seasons is the average temperature. During the winter, the average temperature tends to be around 75 degrees, as opposed to the summer's low to mid-80s. It also rains a bit more in the winter.
There are also peak tourist seasons. June through August and December through February are the most popular times. The peak seasons don't have much to do with the weather. Instead, they correspond to the times the kids are out of school for the summer and available for family vacations. Still, in the midst of winter, Hawaii's climate does make it attractive to tourists from other climes, who come to escape the cold.
RAINY DAY FUN
Although you might sometimes feel that you are in another country, Hawaii can usually offer up at least some of the familiar comforts of home. If the weather's not to your liking, movie theaters and chain restaurants might provide a comforting taste of home in both the big city and the small towns. But then again, you're in Hawaii! Sampling the unique local food and entertainment can add much to your visit.
