In a State of Vigilance
Wherever you are, in the airport, on the plane or on the ground in Hawaii, it should go without saying to keep your eye on the kids. Especially in crowded situations, the possibility for being separated is often there, causing panic in both parents and children. Hang on to those kids! Some have suggested that a bright shirt or a nametag might help keep tabs on the small fry while traveling. Others swear by the little harness and leash systems that keep animated toddlers from straying too far. Some onlookers might scoff, but parents will usually understand. Always stay vigilant when the kids are near or in the water or at high areas such as scenic overlooks. Never discount the speed, ingenuity, and exploratory capabilities of a small child.
TRAVEL TIP
Parents with small children might consider the purchase of travel insurance that will cover trip cancellation or delay should illness prevent or delay a trip. Traveling with a sick child is no fun for anyone and maybe your vacation can be recovered after a few days of recuperation.
