On a Budget
There aren't many budget hotels to be found on Maui, especially on the leeward coast. In listing these establishments, the definition of “budget” is $150 or less. For more inexpensive accommodations, your best bet is to find a condominium apartment for short-term rental.

If you're new to Maui, sometimes it's easy to get mixed up with the place names. People can confuse Kahului and Kapalua and Wailuku and Wailea. Kahului is the commercial area where the harbor and airport are; Kapalua is a resort area in the far northwest. Wailuku is the inland county seat, while Wailea is an expensive resort area on the south leeward coast.
