Maui is indeed a popular place. It's desirable and somewhat fashionable for good reason, and the demand is being addressed with plenty of places to stay and places to eat. The majority of the hotels are located on the sunnier western shores with their attractive beaches. The fact that Maui has long stretches of hotel-friendly coastline has thus far prevented it from being a compact, Waikiki-like environment. Adding to its appeal is the fact the island still retains its tropical ambiance while at the same time making a wide variety of homey conveniences readily available for the comfort of visitors. Both familiar and unique eating opportunities abound, and there is even some sophisticated evening entertainment to be had! Where to stay, where to eat? The choices are many.
