A Day at the Beach

In terms of their beauty, safety for swimmers, and snorkeling potential, there are more good beaches on Maui than on the other Hawaiian islands. In fact, Maui's Ka'anapali Beach was named the Best Beach in America for 2003. Here are a few that have gotten very good marks:

  • Ka'anapali Beach: Located just north of Lahaina, the Ka'anapali Beach is one of the most famous beaches on the island and is quite popular!

  • Kapalua Beach: A nice sandy beach, ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Honoapi'ilani Rd., Kapalua

  • Kama'ole Beaches I, II, and III: All three are beach parks located near Kihei.

  • Wailea Beach: A delightful beach near the Grand Wailea Resort. Makena Ananui Rd., Wailea

  • Makena State Park Beach: Also known as the Big Beach, the Makena State Park Beach is long and wide. Makena Alanui Rd., Wailea

  • Honolua Bay: Located near Kapalua, the bay is a great place for snorkeling.
