In the Middle Range
The majority of the hotels on the Big Island fall into the middle range, between $100 and $200 per night. Many can be found on the sunny leeward coast, especially in the vicinity of Kailua-Kona. Hilo and parts in between have their share too and many are quite comfortable and close to the ocean.

As you wander the streets of Kailua-Kona, you might encounter some solicitation for time-share and other kinds of condo sales. The sales folk are usually pretty friendly and might offer you luau tickets or other rewards in exchange for a few hours of your time to participate in a persuasive condo promotional tour. Stop and chat, or keep walking — it's fine either way!
