Befitting its size, there are probably more things to see and do on the Big Island than on any of the other islands in the chain. The natural sites are numerous, and you can see things on the Hawaii island (like active volcanoes) that you won't see in too many other places. The Big Island's rich history provides much to examine and contemplate. Both the land and the sea offer first-rate natural playgrounds, where you can occupy yourself doing anything from snorkeling to hiking, and for lighter adventures there's some good golfing and lots of places to shop.
