Disneyland is the only Disney theme park created under Walt Disney's direct supervision. Since the gates first opened, more than 500 million people have enjoyed the Disneyland experience.

Disney considered Disneyland to be a three-dimensional, interactive show, which is why people visiting Disneyland are called guests and the people who work at Disneyland are called cast members.
During their visits, they've taken more than 3.4 million rides in spinning teacups, bobsledded more than 12.5 million miles on the Matterhorn Bobsleds, and purchased almost 80 million pairs of Mickey Mouse ears as souvenirs. They've also consumed more than 82 million hamburgers, enough to make a stack that would tower over 3,000 miles high, and drunk more than 35 million gallons of soft drinks, equal to 376 million twelve-ounce portions, enough for every adult in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Some days, the main gate opens about one hour earlier than the rest of the park and guests can enter Main Street, U.S.A. for shopping and breakfast.
