San Diego Sightseeing Tours

If you have a limited amount of time to spend in San Diego, an organized tour can give you a quick overview of the city. A harbor cruise is also a great way to learn more about San Diego's history.

San Diego Trolley Tours

(619) 298-8687

www.trolleytours.com

Their two-hour tour showcases more than 100 local points of interest. The trolleys travel through San Diego and Coronado on a continuous loop, so you can select a few of your favorite destinations and get off to explore attractions, shopping, and dining at your own pace — and then get back on again. You can start the tour at any one of nine stops.

TRAVEL TIP

One benefit of a guided tour is that you don't need a car and you don't have to worry about getting lost. Once you get the overview of what's available in San Diego, you can explore on your own and at your own pace, revisiting the attractions that were the most interesting.

Throughout the trolley ride, you'll enjoy colorful anecdotes, humorous stories, and historical information, all combined in a fastpaced two-hour narrative that both entertains and educates.

Seal Tours

(619) 298-8687

Seal Tours offers a ninety-minute ride around town in an amphibious vehicle that takes you on land and sea. Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for children.

Harbor Tours

Much of San Diego's history centers on the water, especially its long association with the Navy. Harbor tours run from the waterfront in two legs, each an hour long; one leg goes out toward Point Cabrillo and the other goes south past the Coronado Bridge. You can choose to do one or both. San Diego Harbor Excursion ((619) 234-4111, (800) 442-7847, www.sdhe.com) is a locally owned company that provides a dedicated narrator on every trip. Hornblower offers similar cruises ((888) 467-6256, www.hornblower.com). With either company, one-hour cruises cost about $17 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $8.50 for children. The full two-hour tour will cost $22, $20, and $11, respectively.

Old Town Ghost Tours

www.oldtownsmosthaunted.com

For a spooky good time, join ghost hunter Michael Brown in Old Town for a child-and family-friendly ghost hunt. Brown doesn't guarantee that you'll see a ghost, but he does know about some scary spots. Adult tickets are $19, and kids six to twelve are $10.
