Twos with a Three Wing
Because they are in the same feeling, or relationship, triad, Twos with a Three wing are more compatible than Twos with a One wing, who are in different triads. In this case, both enneatypes in the triad are focused on relationships and have an uncanny ability to observe and interpret other people's emotions. When they are self-actualized, both personalities relate very well to other people. Twos still gauge other people's emotions to create relationships, but the Three wing makes them more confident, charming, and outgoing. They simply are more attractive and more approachable than your average Two.
Rather than being so focused on being seen as lovable, the Three wing often makes Twos focus on being seen as successful. Both types are always highly aware of what others think about them, but the Three wing wants social status and will show off to impress others, often to the point of casually dropping names regardless of if they even know the person being mentioned. This Two wants you to admire him and will create a persona if necessary. Reasonably functioning Twos with a Three wing have enough martyr energy left to control ego inflation, but they often go from feeling guilty when they breach moral standards to being terrified that they will be humiliated or lose social status if they make any public missteps.
Twos with a Three wing often project a charming, poised, confident, and friendly persona that often harbors unbridled ambition to be at the top of their field. The musical galaxy provides examples in the form of Luciano Pavarotti, Barry Manilow, Tommy Tune, Sammy Davis, Jr., and John Denver. These are all very successful performers that exude showmanship and a distinctive, friendly, and engaging personality.
When pathological Twos have a Three wing, the combination can be deadly — to themselves or to someone they once claimed to love. If the Three energy led to the development of a persona that they then feel compelled to maintain, any perceived betrayal or threat of being exposed may make these Twos hostile and aggressive. They can also be all too willing to sink to the lowest depths to get what they want from others. If they feel vulnerable, ongoing frustration may lead to disintegration in the form of pathological obsession, jealousy, and violence.
