Nine parents are usually so good at reading others that they can usually connect with their children on their own level. If they are integrated, Nine parents are able to maintain their own boundaries and encourage their children's interests. If they are ego-driven or pathological, Nine parents tend to merge inappropriately and often fail to establish firm boundaries. Children may soon learn that they can manipulate an unhealthy Nine parent, who is often all too willing to surrender her needs to those of her children. Nine parents may create an easygoing household, but they also fail to teach their children that it's fine to have needs and wants and okay to go about getting them fulfilled. Unfortunately, dysfunctional Nine parents model indecisiveness, passivity, and inertia.
