Dog Training and Behavior

The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT)

Founded in 1993 by Dr. Ian Dunbar, the APDT has grown to become one of the largest dog training organizations in the world. It is committed to developing better trainers through education, and offers individual pet dog trainers a respected and concerted voice in the dog world, promoting dog-friendly dog training to the veterinary profession and the public.

National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors (NADOI)

Founded in 1965 to promote modern, humane training methods and at the same time elevate the standards of the dog-training profession, NADOI members need to demonstrate that they have attained certain skills and knowledge through testing measured by their peers. The NADOI's mission is to endorse dog obedience instructors of the highest caliber; to provide continuing education and learning resources to those instructors; and to continue to promote humane, effective training methods and competent instructors.
