Dogs that participate in agility competitions, earthdog events, field trials, herding tests, hunting, flyball, flying disc games, weight pulling, and other canine sports and activities deserve the title of athlete just as much as cyclist Lance Armstrong or soccer great Mia Hamm. They work hard, play hard, and are prone to injuries from their activities. Injuries may include broken bones, ligament tears, muscle sprains and strains, and more. You can't prevent every injury, but you can take steps to condition your dog so he's less likely to hurt himself.
