Other Household Products
There are many products you have around your house that can be used on your pet. Sometimes it's the simpler things that can make a huge difference.
Bounce® fabric softener sheets are great to rub on dogs or cats to reduce static electricity in their hair. A side benefit is its great smell.
Listerine® is good to use as a rinse on some dogs that have yeasty or oily skin. It helps to remove bacteria and fungus and reduce odors. You can use a mix of 25 percent water to 75 percent Listerine® in a spray bottle. It also makes a dog's hair shine when used after grooming.
Vinegar is another multipurpose product. Vinegar is great for yeasty skin, and though your dog may smell like a pickle, it helps cleanse the skin and clarify the skin and hair by removing buildup. When diluted with water, you can use it in the dog's ears as a medicated wash. Use a cotton ball to swab out any excess.
Rub smooth-coated dogs down with a slightly damp chamois after grooming to give added shine to their coats.
Chances are you already have some of these products in your pantry, but they are easy to find even if you don't.
