Photography Log
It is very easy to forget the details of an image that you've taken. Many a photographer has taken a great shot or created a great effect and then not been able to recreate the special feeling of that picture because she did not remember the camera settings.
While you could write down a myriad of details, the log on the facing page should be most helpful.
Some file standards such as EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) contain metadata that is saved within the file. EXIF uses the JPEG or TIFF formats with an added tag structure to save important exposure data about the image, such as shutter speed, f-stop and ISO. For much more information about EXIF data, read the EXIF section in Chapter 18.
Keeping notes is one of the best ways to learn the craft of photography. It is especially useful when you take a series of shots of the same subject at different f-stops, shutter speeds, focal lengths, metering modes, and ISOs. That way you can compare the effect that each change had on the same image. In order to get the most benefits from a series like this, change only one variable at a time.
