Groom Attire
Here comes the bride, all dressed in white … and there stands the groom in his dirty old swim trunks and a tank top that has apparently been used as a napkin (is that steak sauce or chocolate smudged across his midsection, you wonder?). Instead of saying “I do,” the bride shouts, “Time out!” Play will resume once the groom finds an appropriate wedding outfit.
Let's face it: Many men don't care about what they're wearing — ever. Sound like your fiancé? Is he telling you that it's the ceremony that's important, and not what he chooses to wear? He's right — to a degree. However, there are some events in an adult male's life for which he should make the effort to dress the part. A man's wedding is one of those events.

Linen suits are all the rage for beachfront ceremonies, for good reason: Linen is lightweight and relaxed, yet still dressy enough for the occasion. Some men choose to forgo the suit jacket in favor of a gauzy light-colored shirt. It's a matter of personal taste.
What a groom ends up wearing to his wedding is dictated by the ceremony itself. Obviously, a very formal, traditional ceremony (one held in a cathedral or a castle, for example) calls for very formal, traditional wedding gear, which means a custom-made suit or tux. Since most destination weddings turn into less formal events, couples find they're free to play around with their choices a bit more.
Let's say you choose a short, sleeveless, lacy little number for your resort wedding. Your groom's ensemble should complement yours. Think lightweight, light-colored, and casual. An ultra-structured suit just looks out of place on the beach. Linen and cotton blends work especially well for grooms in tropical climates. As for shoes? Sandals or bare feet are completely acceptable for seaside ceremonies (for both of you).
What if you're planning to walk down a sandy aisle in a sarong and a halter top? Do you have to let him wear those swim trunks and his tank top? No! Dress him in linen shorts and a tropical-print shirt and you two will look like a match made in paradise.
