According to the dictionary, the term “bystander” is defined as “one present but not taking part in the situation or event; a chance spectator.” That definition suggests that the onlooker is passive and uninvolved, and in some cases that may be true. In others, the bystanders play a very significant and destructive role in the drama between a bully and his victim. The bystanders are the built-in audience that a bully needs in order to show off his bullying prowess.
