Social skills go beyond the basics of saying “please” and “thank you.” And good interpersonal relationships are made up of more than a friendly “hello” and a firm handshake. It's rather astonishing that the average parent will spend a small fortune on piano lessons and soccer fees — and will often require their children to spend countless hours practicing these skills — but will barely give a thought to teaching their child the skills that are most important for leading a life filled with successful interpersonal relationships and emotional good health.
