Dear Ms. Cummings:

I would very much like to interview for the Political Staffer position advertised in a recent edition of the Evening Bulletin. Upon review of the attached resume, letter of recommendation, and reference list, I trust you will conclude that I have the experience, education, dedication, and potential to excel in this post.

Currently, I am an Administrative Assistant at the State House in Providence. In this role, my primary responsibilities include writing press releases, researching and drafting legislation, and providing consistent constituent contact. I have also worked with various committees and legislators regarding an array of legislative issues. Prior, I worked as an intern at the Lieutenant Governor's office during the elections, and I actively worked for several political and social causes on campus and in the Boston area.

Academically, I hold a Bachelor of Arts from Boston University in Political Science with a concentration in Public Policy. As a student, I completed numerous courses, papers, and projects cited on my resume, yet I have always supplemented academics with practical experience and internships.

Therefore, I consider myself a competent staffer, capable of serving in all capacities described in your announcement. I am eager to continue building a successful career in legislative support, campaign, and related areas as an Any Organization Staffer. I have the commitment, energy, and drive necessary to contribute successfully to your cause, yielding election and legislative successes. I will call to discuss your thoughts regarding my candidacy and, if you believe appropriate, to arrange an interview. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Chris Smith
