Subject: Gemologist Position

TO: Pat Cummings, Vice-President
Any Stores

I was very excited to read about the opening for a Gemologist on your company's website. Please accept this e-mail as well as my attached resume and letter of recommendation as documentation supporting my application for this position.

This year I graduated with honors from one of the nation's best gemology schools, the Gemologist Institute of America, in Santa Monica, California. While earning the title of Graduate Gemologist, I completed numerous courses, learned to use state-of-the-art equipment, and completed numerous internship and externship experiences.

The summary of qualifications section of my resume highlights my retail and manufacturing gemology experiences as well as previous public relations, sales, promotions, and retail achievements. I am eager to join Any Stores, a reputable retail chain that supports its gemologists with national and regional marketing campaigns, and provides its customers with excellent service and guarantees. Being an effective gemologist requires that I use and expand upon my technical, sales, buying, and appraisal skills in order to maximize the profits of my store and service to my customers.

After you have reviewed my qualifications, I would appreciate interviewing with you for this position. Perhaps an initial telephone conversation could be followed by a lengthier in-person discussion. Please note that I plan to follow up with a call in a few days, but please feel free to contact me via e-mail or the above-cited information. In advance, thank you for your consideration. Of course, I would be happy to relocate in order to begin and build a successful career with Any Stores.

Sincerely,
Chris Smith
