Qualified Fundraising Candidate

TO: Pat Cummings, Any Organization
RE: Fundraising Position

I would like to inquire about fundraising opportunities at Any Organization. I trust the attached resume reveals my commitment to a career in nonprofit development, public relations, and especially fundraising. I have spent the past three years nurturing public relations and fundraising skills as a student, intern, and within varied co-curricular roles. My fundraising, outreach, and related qualifications and achievements are noted on the resume. In summary, these include:

  • Experience as fundraiser and program recruiter for campus organization.

  • Confidence in event planning, marketing, strategy development, and outreach.

  • Capacity to draft and finalize correspondence, promotional materials, and brochures.

  • Skill in research, analysis, and presentation associated with lobbying and topical reports.

  • Business knowledge gained from courses including Accounting, Finance, and Marketing.

The prospect of someday soon serving in any number of fundraising roles is most exciting—preparing grant proposals, developing and disseminating documentation for fundraising events, writing correspondence and campaign proposals, contributing web-based or printed newsletters, generating donation acknowledgments, and planning special events. Transforming Any Organization's mission “to enhance the potential for young men and women to maximize educational and career opportunity” would be a personal and professional passion. I welcome the chance to speak with you by phone and, ultimately, in person. In fact, I would be happy to pay for my travel if invited to meet with you. In addition to my resume, attached are several writing samples. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
Chris Smith
