Dear Ms. Cummings:

I would like to inquire about culinary opportunities at Any Hotel. During the past decade, my titles have ranged from pastry chef and bakery manager to pastry cook. Most recently, in my role at the Bevenshire, I plan and prepare desserts for the restaurant and catering operations, and I have created and manage an extremely popular retail bakery outlet. My first position after graduating from the American Pastry Arts Center and the Gourmet Institute of America was at the Willard Hotel, in Boston, so I do have a strong hotel and catering background. Now, as you at Any Hotel complete your renovations and prepare to expand your wedding planning efforts, I seek to join your team and, as your mission statement cites, “to blend customer service and culinary excellence with profitability.”

Because of my ability to organize, train, and work effectively with personnel in quality, high-volume operations, I am able to maintain a conscientious, highly productive work force and profit-focused outcomes. I can oversee training of chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient and profitable operations.

During an interview, I can share how proud I am of the awards I have received for my creative culinary skills and how truly proud I will be to become affiliated with Any Hotel, the recent recipient of the AAA Diamond Award. Perhaps we could meet at the end of the month when I will be in Kentucky for a conference? Alternately, we could begin discussions of potential opportunities by phone. I will call to confirm your receipt of this letter and to discuss next steps. Thank you for your consideration.

Yours Sincerely,

Chris Smith
