Cheese-Crusted Fish Fillets

You can start with either frozen or fresh fish fillets, depending on what you have in your refrigerator or freezer. Whitefish, turbot, and orange roughy are all types of fish that work great with this recipe.

DIFFICULTY: HARD

Makes 4 servings

1 pound fish fillets

1 4-ounce package softened cream cheese

1 garlic clove, minced

2 green onions, chopped

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon chopped parsley

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray a 9″ × 13″ baking pan with cooking spray.

  • Lay the fish fillets in a single layer in the baking pan.

  • In a small bowl, combine the cream cheese, garlic, green onions, and lemon juice. Mix well.

  • Spread the cream cheese mixture over the top of each fish fillet.

  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the fish is lightly browned on top and fully cooked. Sprinkle with parsley before serving.

Play It Safe

You have to test baked fish to make sure it's done. With a fork, pick off a piece from the end of the fish when you think it might be done cooking. If the fish flakes off easily, it is done. If it doesn't come off easily, cook it for a few minutes longer and repeat the process.
