Poppin' Popovers

Popovers are so easy to make, and they're more fun than regular muffins. You can make them in a special popover pan, a muffin pan, or even small custard cups.

DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM

INGREDIENTS | MAKES 6 popovers

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup flour
  • Dash of salt
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Spray the muffin tin with cooking spray.

  2. In a large bowl, beat the eggs with a whisk.

  3. Add the milk, melted butter, flour, and salt. Stir until the mixture is smooth.

  4. Pour the egg mixture into the prepared pan so each cup is about ⅔full.

  5. Bake 25–35 minutes, or until your popovers are puffed up and golden brown.

  6. Remove popovers from pan. Serve warm or cold with butter or jam.

Try This: CRACK AN EGG

Gently crack the eggshell on the edge of a cup or bowl; let the shell crack into two parts. Holding onto the shell, let the egg drop easily into the bowl. It's always best to crack an egg on the edge of a clear glass cup (like a glass measuring cup) or small glass bowl and drop the yolk and white into the cup or bowl before putting it together with other ingredients. That way, if the cracked egg has any eggshell in it, or if it is a bad egg that has blood or a red spot in it, you can throw it away before it ruins your other ingredients.
