Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

Bake the cookies for 8 minutes for chewy cookies and longer (up to 10 minutes) for crispier ones.

DIFFICULTY: MEDIUM

Makes 2½ dozen cookies

½ cup sugar

½ cup brown sugar

½ cup butter or margarine, softened

2 eggs

½ teaspoon vanilla

1¾ cups flour

¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.

  • In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to combine sugar, brown sugar, margarine, eggs, and vanilla. Mix well until the batter is smooth.

  • Add the remaining ingredients, except for the chocolate chips.

  • When the batter is smooth and creamy, stir in the chocolate chips.

  • Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto a cookie sheet.

  • Bake for 8–10 minutes, until golden.

  • Remove cookie sheet from the oven and let it cool 1 minute before removing the cookies.
