Barbecued Oysters on the Grill

Grilling oysters is a great way to appreciate the taste of these delights hot rather than raw.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 dozen oysters on the half shell
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  1. Place the oysters shell-side down on a hot grill.

  2. In a small bowl, mix together the remaining ingredients.

  3. When the juices in the oysters begin to get hot, spoon a bit of the sauce over each oyster.

  4. Turn off the grill and close the lid to allow the oysters to heat through without overcooking. Enjoy with a cold beer.

Oyster Etiquette

To eat oysters served on the half shell, you should pick one up in the shell, tip the oyster to your mouth, and work the oyster and its juice (called liquor) into your mouth. The small fork provided with oysters on the half shell is only there in case the oyster needs a little help sliding out of the shell.
