Pasta with Olive Oil, Garlic, Zucchini, and Romano Cheese for Dogs Recipe
If you want to recreate the spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp, leave the spaghetti at its original length. You could cut your dog's spaghetti, but never, ever put a knife to your own!
YIELDS ► 8 servings
SERVING SIZE ► ¼ cup
RECOMMENDED FOR ► Quick and easy
- 6 ounces spaghetti, linguine, or lasagna noodles
- 2 tablespoons virgin olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, sliced
- 2 small zucchini, finely chopped
- 3 tablespoons Romano cheese, grated
Bring a heavy pot of water to a rolling boil. Cook the pasta for 7 minutes or until al dente and drain into a colander.
While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil in a heavy saucepan over medium heat. Add the sliced garlic and sauté till light brown. Add the chopped zucchini and stir constantly with a wooden spoon.
Cut the pasta with scissors or a knife and add it to the zucchini mixture. Mix in the grated cheese and serve over kibble.
Selecting Pasta
If you start off using the best-quality ingredients, your final dish will reflect the essence of these flavors. This is most apparent when you compare pasta selection at your grocery store. Imported pasta contains durum wheat semolina, which contains a great deal of starch, protein, and gluten. Less-expensive brands use semolina flour, which is actually a less flavorful white flour that does not hold up when cooked.
