Ruby Hard-Boiled Eggs for Dogs Recipe
Hard-boiled eggs combined with pickled beets and onion are a classic New York City delicatessen offering. Here, only the ingredients dogs love are used for this take on a NYC classic.
YIELDS ► 2 servings
SERVING SIZE ► ½ cup
RECOMMENDED FOR ► Quick and easy, Wheat- and gluten-free
- 1 hard-boiled organic egg
- 2 tablespoons cooked beets, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon frozen peas, rinsed under hot water
- 2 tablespoons organic chicken broth (optional)
Use a fork to mash the egg as if preparing egg salad. Toss the egg with the beets and peas. Don't worry about the eggs turning pink — that's supposed to happen.
Add the cooked egg mixture to your dog's bowl and stir in the chicken broth if desired. Serve it alone or over kibble.
Classic Hard-Boiled Eggs
The boiled egg is easy to prepare and requires only a few simple steps. Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with cold tap water. Bring them to a rolling boil over high heat. Once the water reaches a rolling boil, reduce the heat and cook for 10 minutes. Remove the eggs from the heat and place them in ice water for a few minutes. Store hard-boiled eggs in the refrigerator until you're ready to eat them.
