Turkey, Sweet Potatoes, and Corn

Thanksgiving is about sharing, and babies need to be included as much as everyone else. Once your baby is starting to crave solid foods, she'll probably try swiping the turkey off your plate anyway. Dark meat tends to be more moist than white meat, so it will be easier for your baby to chew.

4 Servings

½ cup cooked turkey

½ cup corn (fresh, frozen, or canned)

1 small sweet potato (or half a large sweet potato)

  • If using fresh corn, remove husk and then use a knife to cut kernels from the cob.

  • Peel the sweet potato and chop into pieces. Place in the saucepan with the corn kernels.

  • Add enough water to cover the corn and sweet potatoes. Bring the water to a boil; then simmer until the vegetables are very tender, about 15 minutes.

  • Place the corn, sweet potatoes, and turkey into a food processor or blender. and purée for 30 seconds.

  • Add cooking water, breastmilk, or formula, 1 tablespoon at a time, to make the mixture smoother. Continue puréeing until smooth. This mixture will be somewhat thicker than other purées due to the corn kernels, so be sure that your baby's ready for the texture.
