Steamed Plums

There is a wide variety of plums available in the summer months. Choose from many of the European varieties grown in the United States, which can range in color from green to red to purplish-blue.

2 Servings

1 ripe plum

1 cup water

  • Wash the plum. Peel and remove the pit; then cut into thin slices.

  • If the plum is already ripe and very soft to the touch, you're done!3. If the plum still feels firm, place in a steamer basket in a saucepan. Add enough water so that it fills the pot under the steamer basket.

  • Bring to a boil and then steam until tender, about 5–8 minutes.

  • Let the plum slices cool, and then serve as finger food.
