Steamed Pears

Pears go well with yogurt and ice cream, so you can always turn this simple dish into a fun dessert. Place a few steamed pears in the bottom of a dish and top with a small scoop of ice cream or spoonful of vanilla yogurt.

INGREDIENTS | 4 Servings

  • 1 medium pear
  • ½ cup water
  1. Wash the pear. Peel and core it; then cut into thin slices.

  2. Place in a saucepan with a small amount of water. Steam until tender, about 10 minutes.

  3. Drain the pear slices and serve as finger food.

Slippery Food

If tender apples and pears slip right through your baby's fingers, crush a bowlful of oat-ring cereal (like Cheerios) into powder, and lightly dust her fruits and vegetables with it before serving. Baby's fingers will adhere better to the fruit, so more of it makes it into her tummy.
