Berry and Pear Mash

For recipes with very soft fruits, like bananas or pears, a fork is usually sufficient for mashing. If you need a smoother consistency, try using a wire potato masher instead.

3 Servings

1 very ripe pear

½ cup blueberries

  • Remove skin and core from pear. Cut into small pieces.

  • Put the berries into a pot with about 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil; then simmer on the stove for about 15 minutes, or until very tender.

  • Let the berries cool; then fork-mash with the pear.

Berry Pie

If you end up with lot of leftover pears and berries, use them to make a pie filling for the rest of the family. Cook the pear and berries together with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour into a prepared pie crust, and bake at 350°F for 45–50 minutes. If your baby's teething, he might like a nibble of the pie crust too.
