Cottage Cheese with Fruit by Shana Priwer and Cynthia Phillips
Summer fruit with cottage cheese is a great combination for young eaters. This simple meal provides protein along with healthy fruit. To make the dish a little soupier, slice the fruit on a saucer; pour any juice that comes out right on top of the cottage cheese.
1 Serving
1 cup cottage cheese
½ peach
1 plum
1 apricot
Wash and peel the peach, remove the pit, and cut into thin slices.
Wash the plum, remove the pit and cut into thin slices.
Wash and peel apricot, remove the pit, and cut into pieces.
Place a scoop of cottage cheese into a baby-safe dish. Spoon the fruit on top.
Fork-mash if desired.
Beyond Purées
Once your child is 18–24 months old, almost none of her food will need to be puréed. While she may still enjoy thinner textures, it's also a good idea to challenge her with more chewing foods. Most recipes for this age group can be fork-mashed or simply served as is.
