Krispie Kritters
These are exactly as you remember them from your childhood. They don’t keep well, so make them and eat them the same day.
INGREDIENTS | YIELDS 18 BARS
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 (10-ounce) package marshmallows
- 6 cups crispy rice cereal
Grease 13" × 9" pan.
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add marshmallows; stir until completely smooth and well blended.
Stir in crisp rice cereal; blend quickly.
Spoon into prepared pan; press down firmly with buttered hands.
Let cool; cut into bars.
Variations
Krispy Kritters are a bar with many variations. Use the cocoa or fruit-flavored rice cereals for a different flavor. Add M&M’s, pecans, crushed pretzels, or almost any other candy or nut that you can think of. At Christmas, the melted marshmallow mixture can be tinted with green food coloring, or use various pastel colors for Easter.
