Tiramisu Brownies

This recipe used finely grated chocolate as a final garnish to these rich Tiramisu bars. A more traditional finish would be dusting the top with sifted cocoa powder.

INGREDIENTS | YIELDS 36 BROWNIES

  • 1 cup cake flour
  • ¼ cup espresso powder
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 12 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 pound mascarpone cheese
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup finely grated chocolate
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter 13" × 9" baking dish. Combine cake flour and espresso; set aside.

  2. Melt butter and chocolate, stirring until smooth. Cool slightly. Beat in sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  3. Fold in cake flour mixture. Pour into pan, spreading evenly.

  4. In another bowl, whisk together cheese, ¼ cup of sugar, and vanilla. Pour over brownie batter in pan.

  5. Bake 35–40 minutes, or until top is set. Cool. Dust with grated chocolate and cut into bars.
