Coconut Praline Bars
Use light brown sugar when you make the praline topping for this bar. Dark brown sugar will overpower the delicate flavors.
INGREDIENTS | YIELDS 36 BARS
Crust
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup confectioners’ sugar
- ¾ cup butter
Topping
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cans sweetened condensed milk
- 4 cups flaked coconut
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- ½ cup butter
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter 13" × 9" pan and set aside.
Mix 1½ cups flour and confectioners’ sugar; blend butter in until mixture is crumbly.
Press firmly into prepared pan; bake 10 minutes.
Mix condensed milk, ¼ cup flour, vanilla, and coconut. Spread over bars; return to oven 10 minutes.
Melt butter and brown sugar together in a pan; cook, stirring, until mixture is no longer grainy; do not overcook. Pour quickly over bars and sprinkle with pecans. Chill.
