M&M's Cookie Mix in a Jar
Cookie mix in a jar makes wonderful gifts for any occasion. Be sure to pack the ingredients down tightly so they will fit into the jar.
INGREDIENTS | YIELDS 36 COOKIES
- 1¼ cups sugar
- 1¼ cups M&M’s
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- Wide-mouth, quart Mason jar with top
- Cardstock for printing instructions
- Raffia
- Baking instructions to print and add to jar
Using a canning funnel, put sugar in jar. Use a small meat mallet to tamp it down tightly.
Pour M&M’s in jar.
Mix dry ingredients; pour over M&M’s. Press down firmly.
Screw lid on jar.
Copy instructions and print on cardstock. Tie instructions to jar with raffia.
Shelf Life
Cookie mix in a jar has about a six month shelf life if kept in a cool dry place. Check the baking powder and baking soda that you use to make sure they are not near the expiration date. When there are nuts in the mix, it is better to use it within three months to be sure the nuts do not get rancid.
