Look over the different stand-up styles and try to figure out where you might fit. Is your material so weird that it might be more plausible coming from a different character? What are the acts that influence you? Do you want to work in the same style as them?
If you're having trouble seeing where you fit, don't worry. Many comedians mix the various styles until they find a combination that works for them. Just let your material take you there and don't concern yourself with labels.
Try taking some of the jokes you have written and rewrite them in the different styles described in this chapter. The changes don't have to be permanent, but try it as an experiment to see what you come up with.
