As you watch comedians on stage or on television, look for acts that use a special skill — any skill. It could be a ventriloquist, a magician, or a traditional stand-up that uses an impression, song, or visual aid in the act. Watch how these comics incorporate these devices into their acts and ask yourself: Do they add to the overall comedy or distract from it? Are there any skills you have that you might be able to add to your comedy?
