Steamed Jasmine Rice

1¼ cups jasmine rice

1½ cups water

  • Rinse the rice, running your fingers through it to mix it around, until the water runs clear.

  • Bring the rice and water to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low and cover tightly. Simmer until all the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked, 15 to 20 minutes.

  • Remove the pot from the heat. Do not remove the cover. Let the rice stand for 10 to 15 minutes. Fluff up the rice with a fork and serve.

Yields 3 cups

Scented jasmine rice is a long-grain rice from Thailand that has a soft texture and a flavor similar to roasted nuts. Use it as a flavorful alternative to regular white rice.
