Instant Smoothie

1 (14-ounce) can fruit cocktail

1 cup milk

1 banana, optional

3 cubes crushed ice

Chill the fruit cocktail in the freezer for at least 30 minutes, until crystals begin to form. In a food processor or blender, process the fruit cocktail with the milk. If using the banana, add and process. Add the crushed ice and process again. Drink immediately.

Satisfying Smoothies

With their smooth, icy texture and sharp taste, smoothies are like a fruit-flavored milkshake without the excess sugar and calories.

Yields 2½ cups

If using unsweetened fruit cocktail, add 1 tablespoon (or to taste) granulated sugar, brown sugar, or liquid honey.
