Get Your Snack Mixer On
Serves 16
6 cups mixed cereal (such as unsweetened bran, oat, rice, and wheat cereal mix)
1 cup mini bow-knot pretzels
2/3 cup dry-roasted peanuts
1/8 cup (2 tablespoons) butter, melted
1/8 cup (2 tablespoons) olive, canola, or peanut oil
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Tabasco sauce or other liquid hot pepper sauce, to taste

1. Preheat oven to 300°F. In a large bowl, combine the cereal, pretzels, and peanuts. In another bowl, combine the butter, oil, Worcestershire, garlic powder, and Tabasco (if using).
2. Pour liquid ingredients over the cereal mixture and toss to coat evenly. Spread the mixture on a large baking sheet and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes, until crisp and dry.
Mingling Mixer
Present the snack mix in bowls set around the room to encourage munching. This is also a great first-round appetizer—early guests can nibble on it while you finish up the real treats that you are preparing for your party. Extra snack mix can be stored in airtight plastic bags until needed again.
