This biscuit dough can be cut into smaller rounds to make mini biscuits, too. Serve the warm biscuits with butter, honey, jam, sausage patties, or ham for breakfast, or serve them with dinner instead of dinner rolls.

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 4½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1½ teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 6 tablespoons cold butter
- 1¼ cups buttermilk
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a mixing bowl.
Cut butter into small pieces and add to dry ingredients. Mix butter into dry ingredients with a pastry cutter or with your fingers. This mixture should be a bit lumpy so biscuits turn out flaky.
Add buttermilk and mix with a wooden spoon to form the dough.
Roll dough on a floured board to 1-inch thickness. Cut dough into circles with a 2–3-inch round cookie cutter or a drinking glass. Place rounds on an ungreased baking sheet and bake 12 minutes.
