All parents want to provide a nurturing environment so that their children can achieve their potential. Occasionally, despite the best intentions and effort, a child falls short of that goal because of other factors. One of the most common reasons that some children underachieve is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Beyond ADHD, the increasing incidence of autism has made parents more aware and fearful of mental-health and behavioral issues. In addition, the impact of depression and anxiety disorders on children's lives has not always been recognized.
