Grilled Fontina with Chutney
This is a very easy grilled sandwich with lots of flavor from the fontina cheese and chutney. Taste the cheese and chutney together before cooking to see if you can use this combination as an appetizer without the bread.
INGREDIENTS | SERVES 2
- 4 slices good-quality French bread
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 4 medium slices fontina cheese
- 1 tablespoon savory English chutney
- Salt and pepper
Butter one side of each slice of bread. Top one slice each with two slices of fontina and the chutney.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste, and top with remaining slice of bread. Lightly butter the outside of each sandwich.
Grill in a sandwich grill, a panini press, or a heavy skillet (if using a skillet, weigh the sandwiches down with a heavy pot) until golden brown. Serve immediately.
